Another golden oak 80’s kitchen bit the dust and was replaced by this handsome espresso dark wood kitchen.  The original footprint was maintained and a small, but very functional island was added. This client has traditional taste but wanted a current look for her kitchen. The dark raised panel doors were combined with a shiny glass backsplash, a beautiful granite countertop and modern stainless steel appliances to create her dream kitchen. By analyzing how she uses the kitchen we juggled where some of the appliances and pullouts were located. The island now houses a large pullout garbage and recycling centre for easy access from the sink and dishwasher. A pantry to the right of the fridge was reconfigured to look like a buffet with a counter to use for serving drinks and glass doors above to break up the expanse of dark cabinetry on that wall. Lighting was improved immensely with the addition of pot lights and under cabinet lighting on dimmers. This dark wood kitchen is now my clients favourite room.
